The uniqueness of John’s gospel is that he presents to the reader a very clear
unambiguous statement regarding his purpose: “But these have been written so that
you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may
have life in His name.” (John 20: 31) In fact, 90 % of what is recorded in John’s gospel is
not contained in the other gospels.
John’s gospel contains unique stories such as describing Christ’s pre-existence and
incarnation; Jesus’s early ministry in Judea and Samaria; His first miracle; His dialogue
with Nicodemus; His encounter with the Samaritan woman; His healing of a lame man
and a blind man. Additionally, the Bread of Life discourse is unique to John’s Gospel, as
well as His claim of being living water.
In chapters 10-21, we will see His taking for Himself the name of God and the discourse
of Himself as the Good Shepherd (10: 1 – 39). We will study the narrative of the
resurrection of Lazarus; the washing of the disciples’ feet; the Upper Room discourse;
Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer; the miraculous catch of fish; as well as Jesus’
recommissioning of Peter and the prediction of his martyrdom. And finally, we will note
that John’s gospel contains more teaching on the Holy Spirit than the Synoptics.
Those who have not participated from the beginning are welcome. Notes of the first 9
chapters are available in a binder format.

Like other Gospels, Luke’s Gospel recounts the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus,
the Son of God, who fulfills all of his Father’s saving promises. Luke’s Gospel invites us
to be part of this worldwide spread of the Christian message by showing how Jesus
brings salvation to the last, the lost, and the least. Take this class if you want to see
firsthand how Jesus turned the world upside down and how Jesus fulfilled all that was
promised in the Old Testament. This class will give you a chance to both interact with
other believers and be instructed from God’s Word.
The gospel of Mark is action-packed with the events and life of Christ as Mark
establishes Jesus as the Son of God who came to serve and offer his life as a ransom for
many. Mark addresses the high cost of discipleship and the call to serve as we follow
Christ our King. Together with other women, you’ll be provided materials to meditate
on God’s Word and answer Bible engagement questions. Our prayer for each woman
attending is that God will help you grow in your knowledge of Him and His Word in
community with other women.
